Smart repair

Cosmetic Spot Painting

Cosmetic painting — also called smart repair or spot repair — treats a small, defined area of a panel instead of repainting the whole thing, blending the new colour gradually into the surrounding paint.

It suits small damage such as a scuffed bumper corner or a short scratch on a door, and keeps the repainted area small so more of the original paint is preserved.

Problems we fix

  • Scuffed bumper corners
  • Short, localised scratches
  • Small paint chips and flaking
  • Stone chips on the bonnet

Who this is for

  • Small damage that does not justify a full panel repaint
  • Owners who want to keep as much original paint as possible
  • Bumpers and corners that take the most scuffs
  • Cars that need a cosmetic touch before sale

How we do it

  1. 01

    Define the area

Assess whether the damage is suitable for a spot repair.

  2. 02

    Local prep

Treat only the damaged area while protecting its surroundings.

  3. 03

    Spray and blend

Apply colour and blend it gradually into the surrounding paint.

  4. 04

    Final polish

A polish hides the edges of the repaired area.

How it differs

Spot painting only suits small areas. If the damage is wide or in the middle of a large panel, a full panel repaint or oven painting is the better option.

What affects cost and time

  • Size of the damaged area
  • Its position on the panel
  • Colour type and how easily it blends
  • Number of spots to be treated

We do not quote fixed prices or timeframes before seeing the damage — send photos for an initial assessment.

Questions about this service

Will the repair be visible?

The aim is to blend the colour so it is not noticeable in daily use. Some colours need a full panel for a better result, and we tell you in advance.

Does it work for all small damage?

Usually for limited damage, especially on corners and edges. An inspection confirms it.

How is it different from scratch repair?

Scratch repair can sometimes be polishing only, while spot painting involves re-spraying colour in the area.
