Plastic welding

Plastic Bumper Welding

Plastic welding rejoins cracked or broken plastic by melting the material together with a compatible filler rod, instead of relying on adhesives that can fail with heat and vibration.

We use it on bumpers, grilles and other exterior plastic parts, adding reinforcement from behind where needed so the part is strong again before paint.

Problems we fix

  • Long cracks across a bumper
  • Broken mounting tabs
  • Tears around sensor holes
  • Broken grilles and front plastic parts

Who this is for

  • Plastic parts that are still mostly intact
  • Owners who want to keep the original part
  • Parts that are hard to source as replacements
  • Bumpers that will be painted after repair

How we do it

  1. 01

    Identify the plastic

Determine the material type to choose a compatible welding rod.

  2. 02

    Prepare the crack

Clean and shape the crack edges to accept the weld.

  3. 03

    Weld and reinforce

Weld from inside and outside with reinforcement as needed.

  4. 04

    Shape and prep

Smooth the welded area and prepare it for paint.

How it differs

Plastic welding is one technique within bumper repair. If your bumper also needs reshaping, refitting and full paint, see the car bumper repair page.

What affects cost and time

  • Length of the crack and number of breaks
  • Plastic type and availability of a compatible rod
  • Need for internal reinforcement
  • Paintwork after welding

We do not quote fixed prices or timeframes before seeing the damage — send photos for an initial assessment.
